Kernel/OS (EOS) or Firmware? What is the difference?

Kernel,OS,EOS, Firmware, all are familiar terms to Nintendo player.Do you really know the difference between them.

Two terms should be bear on mind here: Internal firmware and kernel/OS. 

The internal firmware is the internal software of your SuperCard itself, stored specially in your SuperCard, whereas EOS is the kernel/OS, the software that your SuperCard runs from the microSD.

Image that your microSD is the hard-disk  You put Windows (the OS) on your harddisk on your computer, and when your computer turns on it runs Windows. And from Windows it runs the rest of your programs, like games. If the microSD is your harddisk, and the EOS is your Windows, then the Firmware is the stuff your computer runs before it loads Windows.

If you've never seen it before restart your computer right now, and look at what it does after it turns itself on again. It will always load something before Windows. And that "something" is in the internal 'memory' of your computer, just like your Firmware is in the internal memory of your SuperCard.

Sound quite simple, doesn't it?

3DS 6.1.0-x coming,spare R4i Gold 3DS and DSTWO Users

Today Nintendo declare that 3DS 6.1.0-x is released, with the new benefit of

1. Further improvements to overall system stability

2. other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience."

It is good for the players, thought, but , as a player, I could not help worrying about flash cart compatible issue. I have a R4i Gold 3DS card I just order two days ago which can play 3DS 6.0.0 directly. I tested it, and it surprisingly worked all right. That means the new R4i Gold 3DS card could not only support 3DS 6.0.0 directly, but do with the 3DS 6.1.0-x without difference. That is awesome.

But the is not over yet. My favorite card is Super DStwo card instead of R4i Gold 3DS card . Thus I tested it as well. When I found that it still could support the new version. My heart is full of happiness,

R4i Gold 3DS card support 3DS 6.0.0-X perfectly

Most R4i Gold 3DS flash card users are very upset when 3DS 6.0.0-X set foot on this world, for the simple reason that the processing of updating is quite an annoying one. I could fully understand this for i was one the YOU.

Now gone the unhappy day, for R4i Gold 3DS official website declared that R4i Gold 3DS card support 3DS 6.0.0-X directly without patch updating now ! A note pasted below:

Please note: Our new card(shipped out after June 25th) comes with "konami" () directly don't need to do the patch updating and PCB line cutting, which can support 3DS V6.0.0-X directly...

You can check the supported version info within the newest Wood V1.60 menu(need to re-download).....if it's 3DS6.0.0-11 & DSi1.45, then don't need to do patch upddating...

I just got the new card from official site and test it, Surely enough, it is true that R4i Gold 3DS card support 3DS 6.0.0-X directly.

If you are a veteran of online buying, surely you understand fully that most online shops do not take paypal anymore. Why?

The reason is, in my opinion, that it is Nintendo get Paypal to shut down the accounts of sites that sell flash carts, locking them away from the money too. 3DS connection story

I own two 3DSs: one is European version while the other is Japanese one. The Japanese one is the Animal Crossing edition.

I have been playing Japanese Animal Crossing for several months now, and just got Animal Crossing on my other European 3DS.

I have not enabled an internet connection on my Japanese 3DS, as I want to keep a console on old firmware (in case a future firmware blocks flashcarts/hacks, etc).

Since my European 3DS has internet enabled,so I tried to play Animal Crossing "local multiplayer" between the two consoles. I wanted my European console to visit my older Japanese town to get fruit/tools/money, etc. The problem is I couldn't connect the two consoles. I tried connecting via the "local" play option, but I couldn't connect the two consoles.

Finally thanks to the information from internet, I realized that I have to update my Japanese Animal Crossing software to v1.1, (via eShop), and now local play between the two works.

So it is the story about 3DS connection just give you a way if you are in the same trouble one day.

How to update Supercard DS TWO to New Version V.1.20

Since the new firmware V1.20 could sopport the latest 3DS firmware V6.0.0-11x very wll.

“Fake card! please return to retailer” problem solved

Several days ago I occur to a issue that is “Fake card! please return to retailer” problem when I try to use the use the official R4i kernel v1.69b for R4i-SDHC 3DS. I was very irritated by this situation. 

After insulting some people and surf on the internet for several days. Ultimately I am able to find a solution. 

It is said that the reason for this is that SDHC team stop production for R4i-SDHC 3DS card , and turn to make promotion for R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS. In fact , it’s official kernel bug result in this error occur, not the retailers selling face cards.

The steps:

1. Download the new kernel :

2. Get “R4.zip” file,and extract it to the ROOT of your Micro SD card .

3. Insert R4i-SDHC 3DS card to your 3ds/dsi/dsl console.

4 Focus on the game icon and then run the ds system. Then it will go to loading main interface of R4I-SDHC 3DS card. This time , it looks great and without a waring show on screen.

Today the Supercard DStwo office website release the firmware v1.20, which could support DSi 1.45 and 3DS 6.0.0-11x very well.

As a 3ds lover, I am very pleased when I learn the news. And I download the firmware the test it which turned out to be all right.

Q:How to upgrade Supercard DStwo firmware?
Step 1: Download the firmware..
Step 2: Unzip and copy the upgrade file such as "dstwoupdate.dat" to MicroSD.
Step 3: Make sure you have DSTWO EOS system in your MicroSD, if you don't have, please download: DSTWO EOS v1.11(2012-12-12).
Step 4: Find a DS console (NDS\DS\DSLite\DSi\3DS) which can run this EOS system, if you have the latest version console can not run EOS system, sorry, you have to find one.
Step 5: Turn on the power, EOS will detect the upgrade file, press A to upgrade.

Nintendo movement: 3DS Firmware Update 6.0.0-11U released

Nintendo released the latest update for the 3DS, version 6.0.0-11U without making a fuss. Version 6.0.0-11U includes a save data backup feature for downloaded content and a small improvement in system ability and usability.

My concerns is how it Improved system stability and usability?

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

The following, which were included within previous system updates, are not included with system menu versions 6.0.0-0U through 6.0.0-4U:
